Programs

Like your favourite pair of shoes, university degrees are hardly one-size fits all. The University of Victoria offers many different programs all tailored to slightly different outcomes and goals. This page will give a breif overview of what's on offer, along with links to the university's own pages for more in-depth reading. Though the horn may be the connecting factor between us, the UVic horn studio has seen students follow a multitude of different paths. There really is something for everyone in this world of music!

Undergraduate Programs

Typically lasting four years, these degrees are designed to get you well on your way to achieving your goals. All students enter in their first year as a general music student and from second-year on, tend to specialize into one of the following degree programs:

• Performance (BMus)
• Music Education (BMus)
• Composition and Theory (BMus)
• Musical Arts (BMus)
• Musicology and Sound Studies (BMus)
• Music and Computer Science (BFA, BSc)
• Bachelor of Arts in Music (BA)
• Minor in Music

• Performance - Emphasis in String Quartet (MMus) —I'm not sure I know many horn players that have taken this! ;)
